John S. Canfield

U.S. Veteran

John S. Canfield, age 90, of Guthrie passed away March 25, 2014 in Guthrie. He was born June 8, 1923 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Edward W. and Lottie E (Simon) Canfield.

John graduated from Konawa High School. He had in Guthrie since 1954. John was married to Jacqueline (Cranford) Canfield and she preceded him in death on May 19, 1990. He served in the U.S. Airforce during WWII and then worked at Tinker Field and retired in 1975. After his retirement he then started Canfield Homebuilders. John was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and The American Legion. He loved to play cards and dominoes and had a good sense of humor.

Survivors include his children Diane Kolker of Choctaw, Mike Canfield and wife Dollie, Cynthia Caver and husband Randy, and Tim Canfield and wife Patty all of Guthrie. He is also survived by his brother Jim Canfield and wife Dewey of Duncan, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline, 1 brother and 7 sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. A  Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
