Obituary

Amber Nicole Cummings (Sanderson), 41, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on June 17, 2026.

Amber was born on October 28, 1984, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Scott and Lisa Sanderson.

As the daughter of a United States Marine, Amber grew up moving throughout the country, living in Hawaii, Virginia, Tennessee, California, Oklahoma, and Utah. The experiences and friendships she made along the way helped shape her adventurous spirit and love for people from all walks of life. Amber called California home and lived there for most of her adult life.

Amber attended Junípero Serra High School in San Diego, California, Copper Mountain College in Joshua Tree, California, and the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology. She was passionate about esthetics and loved helping others feel beautiful and confident.

On July 28, 2007, Amber married Jimmie Cummings in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Above all else, Amber loved her children and was incredibly proud of each of them. Some of her happiest moments were spent taking them to the beach, the park, and anywhere they could enjoy the outdoors together. She loved dancing, Santa Cruz, the ocean, and everything related to hair, makeup, and skincare.

Amber was a free spirit who loved to travel and could make friends anywhere she went. She was incredibly resourceful. If something needed to be done, she would figure out how to do it herself. Whether it was changing a tire, fixing her car, tackling home repairs, or learning a new skill, she was always determined to find a way.

Amber loved the color pink, Marilyn Monroe, and making memories with the people she cared about most. She was funny, intelligent, creative, and a big dreamer. She was fiercely independent, incredibly capable, and never afraid to learn something new.

While the last few years brought challenges, they do not define Amber's life. She will be remembered for her free spirit, her sense of humor, and the deep love she had for her children, family, and friends.

Amber was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Pamela Webb Skaggs; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Gay Lee Sanderson; her maternal great-grandparents, Earl and Naomi Webb and Lesse and Cordell Heskett; and her paternal great-grandparents, Frank and Edith Sanderson.

She is survived by her children, Colin, Taelyn, Connor, Jordyn, and Charlee; her parents, Scott and Lisa Sanderson; her sisters, Amanda Sanderson and Haylee Sanderson; her nephew and niece, Landry Descher and Sutton Stafford; her grandparents, Jim and Pearl Heskett and David Skaggs; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
