Betty Jo Houck was born in Farris, Oklahoma on February 13, 1943, to Robert E. Lee and Jewel (Shults) Gibson. She passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, in Gore, Oklahoma surrounded by family.

Betty grew up in Farris, Oklahoma area and later moved to Crescent, Oklahoma where she met the love of her life, Melvin LeRoy Houck. They were married on July 20, 1959, and had three daughters, Jeanie, Shelia, and Darla. For the last 30+ years, she had lived in Tryon, Oklahoma.

Betty loved to spend time on the farm with her animals, fishing, listening to country music, and spending time with her family and friends. If you ever needed a home cooked meal, Betty's house was always the place to go.

Survivors include Daughter Darla Herrmann of Vian, Oklahoma; Daughter Jeanie Jones of Dover, Arkansas; Brothers Tommy Gibson and wife Pam of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Eddie Gibson and wife Terri of Port Aransas, Texas, and Leroy Gibson and wife Pam of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Sisters Hildia Coonfield of Oklahoma City and Sarah Wall of Tryon, Oklahoma; Grandchildren Ashli Darter of Dover, Arkansas, Brandi Schutkesting and significant other Matt Stollings of Cushing, Oklahoma, Chelsea Mashburn and significant other Mason Sims of Sedan, Kansas, Cheyenne Herrmann and significant other Kyle Ollar of Tryon, Oklahoma; Great grandchildren Harper, Maci, William, Ashlen, Jourdyn, McKinlee, Cooper, and Rhip; Bonus Grandkids Jesika and Jorge Jaramillo, and their children Adyson, Brylee, and Callye. As well as numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, and the many others that called her grandma.

Betty was proceeded in death by the love of her life, Melvin LeRoy Houck, and parents, Mother, Jewel Lee (Shults) Gibson and Father, Robert E. Lee Gibson; Daughter Shelia Mae Houck; Brother Rodger Glen Gibson; Brother Raymond Leon Gibson, and a very special cousin, Mary Jane Allen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 1:00pm at Oak Valley Baptist Church (18044 N. 2980 Road, Crescent, OK, 73028).
