David "Pete" Wayne Nelson, age 64, of Wellston, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Born in Chandler, Oklahoma, he was the son of Herman and Rosetta (Wilson) Nelson.

Pete found joy in life's simple moments and had a heart that was as big as his smile.

He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Brenda Taylor; his children, Lindsay Nelson and husband Rusty and Charlie Nelson; his sisters, Cheryl Hasty and husband Terry, and Donna Harders and husband Tom; his brother, Chris Nelson; and his stepchildren, Lonnie Poteet and wife Kayla, Jimmy Poteet, Allan Smith, Andrew Smith, and Cindy Taylor and husband Brandon. Pete was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Rosetta Nelson, and his sons, Frankie and Jackie.

Though Pete may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
