She was married for 20 years to Harry Gregson, they were high school sweethearts. They had a daughter MaryBeth and a son Dennis. After her divorce in 1972 she married Jim Davis and they moved to Missouri to deer hunt and fished for 30 years until he passed away from leukemia 10 years ago. She returned to Oklahoma City area where kids and grandkids were living.

Her father was Leroy Spencer who owned Blackwell Sand and Gravel. Her mom Elizabeth Winchell Spencer was both a nurse and a lawyer but died when Auverne was 15.
Auverne helped raise her 3 younger sisters Jean, Margaret and Doris which all passed away before her. She knitted heirloom blankets for all her kids and grandkids and many many others. She loved writing letters and making phone calls and was as sweet as she could be and will be missed.
