Obituary

Emma "Jean" Stroup, 91, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. Born on the Fourth of July in 1934 in Depew, Oklahoma, to Leonard Edward and Emma (Mullins) Ailey, Jean was a firecracker in the best sense: spirited, strong, loving, and full of warmth.

In 1950, Jean married Jack Stroup in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly seven decades. Their 68 years together were filled with laughter, faith, devotion, and countless memories. They built a home where family and friends always felt welcome.

Jean worked for many years as an office manager at Safeway, where her warmth, work ethic, and kindness left a lasting impression on those around her. But her most cherished work was always within her home, tending to her garden, sewing beautiful pieces by hand, cooking meals that gathered the family around the table, and filling her home with the aroma of warmth and care. She loved to read, to travel when she could, and to find joy in even the simplest days.

Jean's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her children: David Stroup and wife Janet, Kirk Stroup, and Lorie Nail and husband Kevin; her beloved siblings Shirley Frazier, Carol Rackley, and John Ailey; six cherished grandchildren; and ten adored great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jack Stroup, her parents Leonard and Emma Ailey, and siblings Mattie Edwards, Betty Ridgway, and Donald Ailey.

Jean's life was one of devotion to her family, her faith, and the beauty in everyday moments. Those fortunate enough to know her will remember her gentle humor, her kind heart, and her unwavering love.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that Jean is reunited with Jack, her forever companion, and that their love story continues beyond this life.
