Ethel "Nadine" Brawner, born June 21, 1942, left this earth to be with our Lord on June 17, 2026.

Nadine was born in Coyle, Oklahoma, to Barney Max and Evelyn Marie (Biggs) Smedley. She married her lifelong love, Billy H. Brawner, on July 25, 1959, and soon after purchased property at Thatcher and Chartrand in Edmond, Oklahoma, where they built their first home, affectionately known as "the little white house." While living there, she welcomed her four children and started her in-home daycare, which she would continue to operate for more than 40 years. In 1974, Billy completed construction of "the big brick house," which Nadine proudly decorated with orange shag carpet and wrought-iron furniture. Many cherished memories were made there as Nadine cared not only for her children, but also for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout her life.

She was active as a Sunday school teacher at Stonegate Presbyterian Church and enjoyed many years of her favorite hobby, sewing. Nadine sewed for countless occasions and celebrations for those she loved, including bridal gowns, bridesmaids' dresses, ribbon shirts, prom dresses, and matching outfits for everyone. She loved her trips to Lake Murray, reading books, watching endless crime stories and game shows, and keeping score in notebooks for every competition she watched on television. However, the greatest joy of her life was attending every grandchild's and great-grandchild's events and activities, even if it meant driving across state lines. She never missed an opportunity to support them.

Nadine is survived by her six children: Cindy and husband Paul Waits; Kevin and wife Holly Brawner; Michael and wife Erin Brawner; Phillip and wife Deanna Brawner; Darlene Brawner; and Gaylyn and husband Tom Haynes; her brothers: Raymond Smedley and wife Kathleen and Melvin Smedley and wife Deborah Smedley; 12 grandchildren: Daniel, Desireé, Brenna, Brett, Travis, Kaleb, Tori, Braxton, Amanda, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Justin; and 19 great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Claire, Elise, Trevin, Tacey, Treyston Joe, Jaxon, Mason, Lincoln, Haydon, Kamila, McKenzie, Lucas, Bryson, Leilani, Taylor, Max, Hunter, and Bella. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Marie Smedley; her husband of 58 years, Billy Brawner; and her infant stepson, Ronald Joe.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
