Gayle Ruth Johnston, age 59, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away September 29, 2015. She was born on October 19, 1955 in Webster, South Dakota to Dale Eugene and Beverly Ruth (Olson) Carr.

Gayle graduated from Webster High School in Webster, South Dakota in 1973. She attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota where she received her nursing degree. She was employed as an R.N. at Deaconess Hospital an had recently retired. Gayle married Mark Johnston on April 25, 1986 in Denton, Texas. They had previously lived in Edmond and had lived in Guthrie since 1992. Gayle enjoyed sewing, crochet, needle point, gardening and yard work.

Survivors include her husband Mark Johnston of the home in Guthrie, mother Beverly Ruth Carr of Webster, SD, son Levi Johnston and wife Lisa of Bastrop, TX, daughter Cassie Marie Underwood and husband Joe of Guthrie, 2 sisters, Cheri Majefke and husband Doug of Rapid City, SD and Karen Lea Nelsen and husband Eric of Big Lake, MN. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Quincy, Eli and Jalyn. Gayle was preceded in death by her father.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phil Gregg of Covington, Oklahoma officiating. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
