Havel E.
Christian
Jul 3, 1937 — Feb 19, 2025
Havel E. Christian, 87, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, Havel's life was one of hard work, craftsmanship, and an unwavering love for the great outdoors.
Born on July 3, 1937, in Byers, Oklahoma, Havel was the son of Jacob Christian and Velma (Koon) Christian. From a young age, he embodied a strong work ethic, beginning his lifelong career as a masonry contractor at just 14 years old. He took great pride in his work, building structures that stood the test of time, much like the values he instilled in his family.
On September 3, 1954, Havel married the love of his life, Vera Day. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and adventure. They made their home in Guthrie, where they raised their children and became part of a close-knit community.
A true outdoorsman, Havel was a skilled hunter and craftsman. He had a passion for making his own guns, knives, and cases, and he was known as a "mountain man" who excelled in archery and trapping. He crafted beautiful cedar furniture and found peace in watching birds. He felt most at home under an open sky, surrounded by nature.
Havel is survived by his daughter, Scharrish Christian; his grandchildren, Travis Head, Kristen Griffin, Ashley Head, Justin Head, Tonya Christian, Chris Christian and his wife Erin, and Cody Christian and his wife Haylie; along with eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Velma Christian, his beloved wife Vera Christian, his sons Toby and Mark Christian, three sisters, and two brothers.
Havel's legacy will live on in the strength of his family, the craftsmanship of his hands, and the beauty he saw in the natural world. His memory will be cherished and honored by all who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
Havel's adventurous spirit and enduring love for his family will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace, forever embraced by the wilderness he so dearly loved.
