James Edward Gentry, age 66 of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away January 23, 2018. He was born May 9, 1951 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Edward L. and Betty J. (Maddox) Gentry.

James lived most of his life in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Germany. He worked for Tinker for 15 years and the U.S. Postal Service as a mailman for 21 years. James was a member of the V.F.W. and participated in Toys for Tots. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and working on cars.

Survivors include his wife Tonya Gentry, six siblings, Richard (Vonda) Gentry of Edmond, Curtis (JoAnna) Gentry of Konowa, Sue Brown of Guthrie, Lynda (James) Cowans, Starla Longest and Sherri Gentry all of Edmond and numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters, Rosemary, Brenda, Robert, Penny, Kenny and Terri.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
