Jeffery Alan Birt was born on February 15, 1962, in Sac City, Iowa, to Wendell Birt and Rita (Braur) Birt. He passed away on August 25, 2026, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 64.

Following high school, Jeffery proudly served his country in the United States Army, including during the Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm. His military service remained an important and honorable part of his life.

On July 12, 1980, Jeffery married Barbara Martin and to this union three children were born: Bobbi, Kelli, and Wendell. This marriage ended, but Jeffery and Barbara remained friends throughout their lives.

On October 12, 1996, Jeffery married Pennie Hightower. To this union, one child was born: Cory. Together, they built a life filled with love, a blended family, and many treasured memories. Jeffery worked for the City of Guthrie for many years as a code enforcement officer and was a familiar face throughout the community.

In his free time, Jeffery enjoyed shooting, fishing, and settling in to watch movies and television. He especially loved old westerns and could always appreciate a good story from days gone by. Above all, Jeffery cherished the time he spent with the people he loved. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, proud veteran, and a man whose presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Jeffery is survived by his loving wife, Pennie Birt; his father and stepmother, Wendell and Cheryl Birt; his children, Wendell Birt and wife Holly, Cory Birt, Bobbi Hicks and husband Greg, and Kelli Birt Patterson; his siblings, Alan Birt, Kim Petter, Kelly Birt, Sarah Swartz and husband Nick, and Patricia Birt; his grandchildren, Jayden, Taygen, Karley, Kailyn, Ryker, and Archer; and his mother-in-law, Joan Hightower.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Goodwin; his brother, Jason Birt; and his father-in-law, Bill Hightower.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at Hayes Funeral Home from 12:00 - 5:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel.
