Obituary

Joe Allen Blair was born on April 14, 1942, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Lawrence and Linnie (Haymaker) Blair. He passed away on September 10, 2026, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, at the age of 84.

Joe proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he spent many years working as a truck driver. His career took him across countless miles, but his heart was always with the people and places he called home.

On April 20, 1967, Joe married the love of his life, Patsy O'Dell, in Bartlesville. Together, they built a life filled with nearly 59 years of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Patsy preceded him in death on February 22, 2026. Her passing left an immeasurable space in his life, and those who loved them find comfort in knowing they are together once again.

Joe and Patsy moved to Guthrie in 1979 after living in Franklin, Idaho, and Guthrie remained their home for the rest of their lives.

Joe was a thoughtful man who found meaning in both the simple routines and lasting traditions of everyday life. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and faithfully wrote in his journal every single day, preserving his thoughts, experiences, and memories one page at a time. He also had a great interest in guns and knives, enjoyed hunting, and shared a special bond with his beloved dog.

His faith was an important part of his life, and he remained active in his church. Joe will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his country, and his faith, as well as for the quiet and steady presence he brought to the lives of those around him.

Joe is survived by his children, Joseph Wayne Blair and wife Misty, Paula Watson and husband Kelley, and Gayla Grove and husband Justin; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patsy Blair; his parents, Lawrence and Linnie Blair; and his sister, Illene Edwards.
