John August
Crabtree
Apr 7, 1959 — Feb 6, 2025
John August Crabtree, 65, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away February 6, 2025. Born on April 7, 1959, in Guthrie to Garland and Alice (Hansens) Crabtree, John spent most of his life in the community he loved.
John was known for his warm heart, outgoing spirit, and ability to light up any room he entered. He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1977. A true social butterfly, John cherished time with friends, whether visiting thrift stores on Thursdays or enjoying karaoke nights, where he proudly sang Abba's Dancing Queen or songs from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. A dedicated worker, John retired from Lowes, where he specialized in hardware and garden center work. He took pride in helping customers find what they needed, always with a smile and a kind word.
John is survived by his loving partner, Devin Tyler of Guthrie; his siblings, Donnie Crabtree and wife Rhonda of Edmond and Elizabeth Cook of Guthrie; his nieces, Tayler Cook and Mattyson Cook, as well as numerous other family members. He is also survived by his fur babies: dogs Dutchess and Duke and his cat Charlie. John was preceded in death by his parents Garland and Alice Crabtree and his sister Garla Kay Crabtree.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Community Church (512 E. Seward Rd., Guthrie, OK 73044) with Pastor Tyler Rudek officiating. The casket will not be open at the service.
