Obituary

John Monroe Stevens, 73, of Marshall, Oklahoma, passed away on June 10, 2025, in Oklahoma City.

Born in Wilson, Oklahoma, John was raised by Charles Stevens and Betty (Riddle) Stevens. He spent his life working hard, loving his people fiercely, and calling things exactly like he saw them. He married Robin Haken on June 16, 1980, in Enid, Oklahoma and they spent 45 years building a life full of grit, laughter, and loyalty.

John worked in the oil field and as a truck driver throughout his life, and even after retirement, he never really stopped moving. He felt most at peace outdoors, whether he was working, relaxing, or just soaking in the quiet. He also loved a good game of dominoes or cards and was always ready with a quick wit or playful jab. John had a way of making people feel welcome, and he never passed up the chance to share a laugh or deliver a perfectly timed joke.

He moved to Marshall in 1983 and grew up attending the First Baptist Church in Hennessey. He was also a proud supporter of the NRA and NASCAR

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael "Clarence" Stevens and brother-in-law Virgil Jr. Raper.

Left to remember him are his wife, Robin Stevens, kids: Trey Coleman, Charlie Stewart and husband Adam, Dani Wood and husband Toby, Ramy Stevens, and Coy McPeek and husband Eric. His grandkids: Josiah, Rori, Cache, Sutton, Ayden, Rowyn, Devyn, Jalene, Matthew, and Desirae will carry his stories and his stubborn streak forward. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jeff Stevens and wife Shirley and Janice Dawn Raper and partner John Caskey, and a long list of nieces, nephews, great-grandkids, and good friends who will miss his sharp wit and strong presence.

John didn't put on airs. He was who he was: steady, honest, and a little rough around the edges, but he had a big heart for his family and the people he cared about. He leaves behind a lot of memories, a few legendary one-liners, and a reminder to live life full throttle, with a laugh close by.

A come-and-go Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at One Twenty Two Event Center in Hennessey, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited to join and share memories of John and honor the life he lived.
