Obituary

Our beautiful Mother Julia (Judy) Taylor passed away to her heavenly home on April 8th after a brief illness. A memorial celebration in her honor will be held Friday, April 21st at 2:30 at the First United Presbyterian Church of Guthrie under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Julia Ann Davis was born on the family farm on October 18, 1919 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Jacob and Rose (Kelly) Davis. She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1936 and graduated from the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938.

Working at the Logan County Office, she met the love of her life Oris O. Taylor who was her boss. They married on March 8, 1939 and shared 57 wonderful years together until his death in 1996.

Judy had an unwavering faith and was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Guthrie serving as an elder and serenading us with her beautiful soprano voice from the choir loft. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter AD, and the Order of Eastern Star.

Family meant the world to Judy. She was an amazing cook and family gatherings and cookouts with our Kenneth Mitchell Family were her specialty. Everything was homemade except her daily dose of Oreo cookies and Dr. Pepper.

She loved attending OSU sporting events with her husband and children. Judy enjoyed walking miles and miles with her friend Mary Grace Westbrook. She also enjoyed volunteer work which included delivering mobile meals, Bluegrass Festival, Territorial Christmas, and many more. She also worked for the Logan County Election Board during voting periods.

She is survived by her sons, Bob Fries, Jeff Taylor and wife Debbie of Guthrie and daughter Jan and husband Ed Bugby of Edmond and her loving cousin Brenda and husband Gary Nivens. Her grandchildren, Lindsey Schneider, Teresa Fries, Kevin Fries, Hayley Taylor, and Lisa Bugby. One great grandson Luca B. Nephews Cliff White, Ralph Taylor and Eric Taylor. Nieces Freda Mulvaney, Molly White and Sheri Oakes.

Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, 102 E. Noble, Guthrie, OK 73044.
