Karen R. McGovern, age 86 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on May 23, 2023. She was born on September 5, 1936 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Alfred and Susan (Fox) Steichen.

Karen graduated from Oklahoma State University in where she received her Bachelors Degree. While attending OSU She met her husband William "Bill" McGovern. They married on September 20, 1958, at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. Karen and Bill moved to Guthrie in 1998 from Oklahoma City. Karen loved Guthrie and was very involved in the community. She was a former member of the Guthrie Lions Club. She was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children Patrick McGovern of Guthrie, Susan Devonshire of Tulsa, and Dr. John McGovern and husband Brad Yoshimitsu of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived by sister-in-law Barbara Rondeau and husband Patrick of Boca Raton, Florida; and grandchildren Katherine Devonshire of Tulsa, and Jay and Anthony McGovern of Fort Worth, Texas. Karen was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Bill McGovern, parents Alfred and Susan Steichen, son William McGovern II, sister Elizabeth Murray, brother Father John Steichen, and brother-in-law Robert McGovern.
