Obituary

Mark Jeremy Bruning, age 47, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on July 28, 2022. Mark was born on October 31, 1974, to Mark Andrew Bruning, Sr. and Dee (Brooks) Bruning in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mark graduated from Guthrie High School in 1993. To most of his family and childhood friends he was just "Jeremy". He was known as a bit of a troublemaker in his youth but becoming a dad at a young age made him determined to make something of himself and he did just that. He started working for the Guthrie Police Department in 1995 as a dispatcher. He then joined the police force where he remained for the next 25 years. During these years he was a part of the District 9 Drug Task Force and Internet Crimes Against Children. He spent much of his time as a young man supporting his daughter at sporting events and boating with friends. He was always known as the life of the party and could often be seen rocking eye patches and of course that blue track jacket that became iconic over the years. He took the time to get to know people, always willing to shake hands with anyone and everyone and chat about life. He married Heather Bouziden on September 28, 2013. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, hunting, and golfing with his wife. He was an animal lover but especially adored his dog, Gage. Mark was also a firefighter/EMT for the Woodcrest Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Captain. He recently began instructing with Heartland Medical Direction. He was happiest when he was serving and protecting others. He was truly the guardian of his community. Other hobbies included fishing with his father-in-law and being "pops" to his granddaughter. Mark was a member of the Guthrie Masonic Lodge and an ordained minister, assisting in the marriages of several of his lifelong friends.

Survivors include his wife Heather of the home in Guthrie, mother Dee Bruning of Guthrie, daughter Bailey Bradford and husband Clay of Little Rock, AR, granddaughter Anderson Bradford of Little Rock, AR, two sisters, Sara Bruning and Sandee White and husband Danny both of Guthrie, grandmother Dorothy Brooks of Yukon. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Whitney Bruning, Samantha Wall, Karson White and Tommy White, mother and father-in-law Mark and Esther Bouziden, brother and sister-in-law Chris and Callie Bouziden and their children Carter, Caitlin and Claire. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandfather Donald Brooks, and their dog Gage.
