Mona "Michelle" (Altebaumer) Scales, age 58, of New Caney, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, in Humble, Texas. Michelle was born on April 14, 1963, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to John Wallace Altebaumer, Sr. and Neva Sue (Mitchell) Altebaumer.

Michelle graduated from Guthrie High School in 1981. She attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and University of North Texas.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years Michael Patrick Scales, her mother Sue Altebaumer, daughters Haley Gillin, Sydney Scales and Bridget Carter and husband Dustin, sister Lynnette Hayes and husband Chuck and brother John Altebaumer and wife Alina. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Jason Gillin, Emelia Gillin, Jillian Carter and Thomas Carter and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father J.W. Altebaumer and infant nephew John Wallace Altebaumer, III.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Hayes Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Gene Owen officiating. Services will be under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
