Ray "Duane" Goodson, age 84, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away on October 16, 2025. He was born on September 21, 1941, in Elmore City, Oklahoma, to Andrew and Fleeta (Robinson) Goodson.

Duane proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, he built a long and dedicated career with ConocoPhillips, where he worked as a supervisor and later retired after 30 years of employment. He continued to do safety contract work for them for an additional 15 years. A true outdoorsman, Duane found joy and freedom in nature, whether he was elk hunting in the Colorado mountains or calf and team roping.

Duane married Elizabeth Iris Galloway on June 21, 1969, the mother of his two children. After their divorce he married Janette Carol Payne on May 23, 1996, with whom he shared many happy years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janette Goodson, of the home in Guthrie; his children, Justin Goodson of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and John Goodson of Guthrie; his stepchildren, Amy (Greg) Payne Weselka of Dallas, Texas, and Russell (Karen) Payne of Crescent; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Duane is also survived by his brother, Bob (Linda) Goodson of Choctaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Fleeta Goodson, three sisters; two brothers; and daughter-in-law, Toni Goodson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Harmony Community Church, with Pastor Rob Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00–7:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 4:00–5:00 p.m. at Hayes Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Alzheimer's Association (for research) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
