Obituary

Robert Keith Mueller, 79, passed away on August 18, 2026, in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Robert was born on January 18, 1947, in Hillsboro, Kansas, to Erich Mueller and Kathryn (Hoffman) Mueller. He attended Wichita State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Arts.

Throughout his life, Robert was a hardworking man who enjoyed working with his hands. Over the years, he held several different jobs, including working as a school bus driver, feed mill operator, and farrier. His work as a farrier was especially fitting for Robert, as horses were one of his great loves throughout his life.

In 2024, Robert moved to Guthrie from Abilene, Kansas. Although Oklahoma became his home, his Kansas roots remained an important part of who he was. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Tampa, Kansas, and a devoted fan of KU sports. He was always happy to cheer on his beloved Jayhawks.

Robert found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved carpentry and gardening and took pride in creating things with his own two hands and watching things grow. His love for horses remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Robert is survived by his children, Russell Mueller and wife Lara, and Roxanne Peterson and husband Adam; his grandchildren, Owen and Brooklyn; his siblings, Leon Mueller and Kathy Mueller-Witt; as well as other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine; his parents, Erich and Kathryn (Hoffman) Mueller; and his brothers, Gary and Arlin.

Robert will be remembered for his hardworking nature, the things he created with his hands, and the many things he loved throughout his life. His memory will live on through the stories shared, the lessons he passed along, and the love of the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church (102 5th St, Tampa, KS 67483).
