Ronald "Ron" Edward Smithson, aged 74, passed away in Oklahoma City on January 26, 2024. He was born on February 2, 1949, in Oklahoma City, the son of Troy "Eddie" Edward Smithson and Florence (Lankford) Smithson.

Ron graduated from Classen High School in 1967 and married the love of his life, Nancy Clough on August 6, 1985. They moved to Guthrie where they attended the First United Methodist Church.

Ron spent the majority of his working years as a salesman in the floral wholesale industry. He started with Mistletoe Wholesale and later worked for Central Wholesale. Known for his sense of humor, he excelled at building relationships and lifelong friendships with clients and co-workers alike.

After retiring, Ron volunteered at the Hands of Jesus Food Pantry & Outreach Ministry for over 10 years, eventually serving as the Assistant Director. People who came to the pantry often asked for Ron because they needed a smile or laugh. No matter how they felt, he always made them feel better.

In his free time, Ron enjoyed drawing caricatures and cartoons. He often shared art with people in his life, and many of his drawings have been cherished by recipients for decades. He also loved spending time outdoors, fishing, and camping with his family. Ron was a former troop leader for the Boy Scouts Troop 850, where he was a mentor and great role model for many young scouts.

Ron was a passionate sports fan. He enjoyed watching football and golf, but he especially loved baseball and was a lifelong Dodgers fan. One thing Ron enjoyed more than watching his favorite professional and college sports teams was watching his kids and grandkids play sports, from tee-ball to baseball and softball, and Bluejay Football.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Wayne Ince and his five children Kirstin, Christine, Abby, Ashley, and Ryan, son Troy Smithson and wife Sharon and their three children Cheyenne, Lily, and Katie, son Michael Smithson and wife Heather and their two children Molly and Hattie. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Florence Smithson, and his brother Jimmy Smithson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M on Monday, February 12, 2024, at Community Church (512 E. Seward Rd. Guthrie, OK 73044).
