Ruby Scharline Poston, 80, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Born on August 20, 1945, to Otis T. and Mary E. (Nicholson) Buttress, Ruby lived a life marked by quiet strength, loyalty, and simple joys. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1965 before eventually making Guthrie her home in 1972 after moving from California.

Ruby dedicated many years of her career to Oklahoma Farm Bureau, where she worked as a Policy Service Representative. She was dependable, hardworking, and took pride in the work she did and the relationships she built along the way.

On March 20, 1993, Ruby married Vernon W. "Blackie" Poston. Their marriage was filled with companionship, laughter, and love until his passing in 2014. Though losing him was a heartbreak she carried deeply, the life and memories they shared remained close to her heart.

Ruby had a gentle spirit and found happiness in the little things that made a house feel like home. She loved spending time working crossword puzzles, crocheting gifts and keepsakes for those she loved, and relaxing with her favorite game shows playing in the background. She was the kind of person who brought comfort simply through her presence.

Survivors include her daughter Tracy Sloniker-Queen, son Merlin Tucker, Jr., brother John Buttress, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, son Dale, brothers Otis and Kenneth, and her baby sister.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 12:00 - 7:00 PM at Hayes Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel. Private family burial will follow.
