Funeral services for Sharon Kay Byte will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Poplar and Warner Church of Christ (320 N. Poplar, Guthrie, OK 73044) with Charlie Ward officiating. Burial will follow at McKinley Cemetery in Meridian.

Visitation will be held at Hayes Funeral Home on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Sharon Kay Byte, age 63, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, was born on May 30, 1961, to George and Helen (McCorkle) Baker. She passed away on August 27, 2024, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sharon lived in Guthrie her entire life. She graduated from Guthrie High School in 1979 and was a proud marching band member. She was self-employed as a nanny and touched the lives of many children.

On September 19, 2015, Sharon's life took a beautiful turn as she married the love of her life, Michael Byte.

Sharon accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She attended church at the Poplar and Warner Church of Christ, Community Church, and Assembly of God Church in Guthrie.

Sharon was an adventurous soul who loved to travel. Her beloved friends, known as the 'Golden Girls,' were her constant companions on these journeys. Branson was one of her favorite places to visit. She also had a unique fondness for pigs and enjoyed collecting pig memorabilia.

Survivors include her husband Mike Byte of the home in Guthrie, brother Chris Baker and wife Gail of Guthrie; daughter Tonya Tucker of Mustang; aunt Edna Heilman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her in-laws Larry and Marilyn Byte, David and Rebecca Byte, and Gary and Angie Byte. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Baker.
