Shirley Joan Dodd, 87, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Born on December 12, 1937, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma, to James Henry and Josephine (Burnett) Green, Shirley led a life filled with love, creativity, and devotion to her family and faith.

After moving to Guthrie from McAlester in 1991, Shirley called Guthrie home for the last 33 years. A devoted member of the Church of Christ in McAlester, she found joy in her faith and community. Shirley had a true passion for gardening, often sharing the beauty of her green thumb with others, and she was equally gifted in painting and drawing.

Survivors include her daughter Margie Smith-Robbins of Midwest City, daughter Christie Cates and husband Jimmy of North Richland Hills, Texas; grandchildren Shawn Dean Cates, Nick Cates and wife April and Nicole Scott and husband Todd; sister in-law, Glenda Dismuke and niece Debbie Burch both of McAlester; and a host of nieces and nephews living in Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, Missouri and California. Shirley is also survived by two great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents James and Josephine Green, sisters Joy Hackler and husband Lester Hackler and Bilie Sue Geyer, brothers Gary "Bud" Dismuke, and brother David Lee Starr, former husband and father of her children Clarence S. (John) Smith, former son in-law Richard H. Boatright and her beloved aunt Mary (Green) Earp.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Hartshorne Cemetery in Hartshorne, Oklahoma.
