Tamela Jo
Walker
Jan 13, 1965 — Aug 9, 2026
Tamela Jo Walker, 61, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Tamela was born January 13, 1965, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to William Wallace and Mary Jo (Bridgeman) Walker. She earned her bachelor's degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and spent many years working in childcare. Her years caring for children reflected the compassionate and giving nature she carried throughout her life.
In 2019, Tamela made Guthrie her home after moving from Elk City, Oklahoma. She quickly found ways to give back to her community, volunteering with Brunch on Noble as well as several animal rescue organizations. Tamela had a special place in her heart for animals and for those who needed a little extra care, and she was generous with both her time and her kindness.
Above all, Tamela treasured her family. She leaves behind those who loved her and will carry her memory forward, including her mother, Mary Jo Walker; her children, Tera Jo Tidwell and husband Raymond and Dawson Walker and fiancé Dixie Blevins; her sister, Tammie Glover and husband Dennis; her brother, Billy Walker and wife Sharetta; her grandchildren, Matthew Baker, William Walker, Hailey Tidwell, Alexis Tidwell, and Naythan Tidwell; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Wallace Walker.
Tamela's life was one marked by caring for others, whether through her work, her volunteer service, her love for animals, or the family she held dear. The kindness she gave so freely will remain a meaningful part of the lives she touched.
No services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Tamela's honor to Helping Community Paws and Claws (HCPC), an animal rescue organization of your choice, or the Wounded Warrior Project. These organizations reflect causes that were meaningful to Tamela and are a fitting way to honor her caring and generous spirit.
